Our West Indian/American home bakery is a family-owned business founded in 2012. My
talented grandmother was one of the few specialty cake makers in our village of Calibishie,
Dominica. She baked and decorated specialty cakes for special occasions like First Holy
Communions, Christenings, Confirmations, Weddings, and more. I admired her baking talent
down to the smallest detail.
Because of her, I developed a love and passion for baking; especially specialty cakes, which was
one of my most favorite past times. I baked and decorated my first specialty cake for my second
son's Christening. Then that inspired me to bake and decorate two more, which got easier, faster,
and perfected with continued practice.
After migrating from Dominica to the USA, I continued to bake and decorate for family
occasions for fun and to relax. As an opportunity to bond and share our love of baking and
creating, my daughter, Kess, took multiple cake decorating classes at Michaels. There we learned
to work with fondant, create gum paste flowers, decorate with different type of frostings, and the
basics of cake decorating. In addition, I took several online classes and studied at Al Institute
for
Baking and Pastry. While there, I learned the techniques and fundamentals for baking, pastry and
many more.
I have a special love and passion for making and creating edible cake decorations especially
flowers. Baking, decorating cakes, and creating sweet treats will always have my heart. And, like
my grandmother, I also pay attention to the smallest detail to ensure perfection.
